ARKANSAS STUDENT LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE (ASLI)
Arkansas Student Leadership Initiative (ASLI) is a community organizing club that focuses on improving El Dorado through service projects and raising awareness in the community. ASLI seeks to help students find what it means to be a steward of the community, and help them discover the impacts of community involvement.
The main goal of ASLI is the “Day of Service” that takes place during the Spring. This event is seen as the pinnacle of community service in the school as the goal is a community service day. Past service days have covered the entire town in different locations such as nonprofits and community organizations that need assistance. This large event has garnered over 150 students to go across El Dorado to serve and learn.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
ASLI applications will be given out at the start of the school year, but we take new members throughout the year. See Ms. McKibben if you are interested!
Students meet once a week for an hour. It is crucial that students attends these weekly meetings in order to create and maintain service projects. Students also must attend 6-8 hours of community service throughout the school year, and plan on giving extra time in April to prepare for our annual service day.
