Underwater Robotics

Underwater Robotics team tryouts are in full swing!  Yesterday, potential team members worked hard creating designs for a new ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle).

Tryouts began Tuesday and will continue through October 2nd on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 5 PM. Anyone else interested in trying out should see Mr. Herren or Mr. Wales as soon as possible.

In underwater robotics, students design and build a working underwater ROV (remotely operated vehicle) from recycled and purchased components.  They work as a "company" and document everything they do.  In April, the team travels to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in Dauphin Island, AL and competes against over a dozen other teams including junior high and high school teams. The competition consists of a product demonstration (performing tasks with our ROV), creating a display board of everything they did, and presenting for 10 minutes in front of a panel of judges and other teams.
