On January 24, 2018, the El Dorado Police Department was awarded a grant for $25,750 from the Share Foundation. The grant, written by Officer Gerid A. Ardwin, will go to fund a week long day camp called the C.A.T.S. Academy.
The C.A.T.S. Academy is for 4th grade students entering the 5th grade, and consists of police officers making relationships with the students while teaching them drug awareness, good character qualities, good decision making, and other skills that can help them lead healthy, successful lives.
Applications for attending the 2018 C.A.T.S. Academy will be issued sometime in the spring semester of 2018. If you have a 4th grade student who will be entering the 5th Grade in the fall of 2018 and who would like to participate, contact your child's school counselor.
