office of the superintendent

ESD has been working to implement several safety initiatives across the district that include an advanced weapons detection system. This system will not be in place until the middle of November. Until this system is in place, additional safety measures will be taken at El Dorado High School.

Today, the El Dorado High School administration became aware of a potential weapon on campus. The administration and school resource officer initiated an investigation that resulted in a student being taken into custody by the El Dorado Police Department. This appears to be an isolated situation. Beginning tomorrow, Friday, October 21, 2022, a metal detector will be used and backpacks and bags will be checked until the weapons detection system is in place.

Please be patient with the EHS administration as they work to get everyone in the building in a timely manner in the coming weeks. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff. El Dorado School District must remain a safe haven for our children, and we must all–parents, staff, and community members–work together to provide that safe environment they deserve.
