Washington Middle School

April 2024

Hello WMS Families,

Welcome to our April newsletter! As we embrace the spring season and all the exciting events it brings, we're thrilled to share updates, important reminders, and engaging activities happening at Washington Middle School. Stay tuned for a month filled with growth, learning, and fun!

What's going on around our campus?

The Amazing Shake

The Amazing Handshake Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, from March 22-25, brought together individuals with a passion for creativity and networking. Participants showcased their unique handshake styles, demonstrating charisma, professionalism, and cultural awareness. The event was a celebration of diversity and inclusivity, fostering connections and friendships across various backgrounds. Congratulations to all the participants for their impressive displays of camaraderie and sportsmanship!

Did You Know?

Did you know that wearing proper solar eclipse glasses is crucial for protecting your eyes during an eclipse? Regular sunglasses are not sufficient for viewing a solar eclipse as they do not block the harmful rays of the sun. Make sure to wear specially designed eclipse glasses to safeguard your vision and enjoy the spectacle safely! Mark your calendar for April 8th to view this event.

Pre-order your yearbook now!

Pre-order your yearbook at : https://store.shopyearbook.com/wms24 use the password WMS24 or pay at the front office. Deadline is April 20th for preorder sales. Yearbooks will be distributed at the school before the end of the year. A yearbook signing party will take place the last week of school.

Upcoming Event

Knight's Conferences

We look forward to meeting you in person! Remember that conferences will last approximately 20 minutes. It’s vital to the success of your scholar that we (teacher, parent/guardian, & your student) meet in person for this conference and review their schedule for next year. In the unexpected event something prevents you from coming at your appointment time, please email or call your student's Knight's advisor as soon as possible. Alternate arrangements must be made.

Again, I have certainly enjoyed working with your student this year and look forward to working with you both to plan for the future.

Sports Physicals

The Arkansas Activities Association states that any student who wishes to participate in any sport-sponsored team or squad must have a current physical each year. The Wildcat Wellness Center located on the WMS campus will offer sports physical for $15.00. No insurance claim will be filed for a sports physical. The provider will not write any prescriptions, update immunizations or treat any specific medical problems. This will strictly be a screening physical to participate in sports.

The Wellness Center staff will be on your student's campus on the dates listed below. They must have a signed consent form and $15 (cash or check made out to Cabun Rural Health Services) before the sports physical will be administered. WMS-March 26, 2024, BJHS-May 10,2024, and EHS-May 17th,2024.

Please call (870) 639-3875 to set up an appointment if you cannot attend the mass clinic date.
