welcome back to school

The new school year tends to bring about a wide range of emotions for people: younger students are eager to get back to their friends and teachers, older students are sad to see summer go, parents of older children are happy to send their students to school, and parents of “firsts” and “lasts” are struggling with letting go.

For your teachers, administrators, cafeteria staff, technology staff, custodians, and everyone else in the district...well, we are thrilled to have students back in the building. We are excited for the new school year, to meet new students and visit with old ones, to fix up our classrooms, libraries, and spaces just for you! We are ready to try new things. This is our “happy place,” our “home away from home,” and we are ready to be back! We are ready to have YOU back!

As school begins Tuesday, we are making our final preparations to have you back on campus. We wanted to send out a few reminders, so they aren’t lost in the flurry of activity over the next few days:

  • School begins at 7:55am and ends at 3:25pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays, school dismisses at 2:25pm.

  • Masks must be worn properly while inside the building and on buses.

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle to refill as needed.

  • All school supplies are provided for K-4 and will be in the classroom when they arrive at school. Students in grades 5-6 need to bring a box of Kleenex, a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a sketch pad. Students in grades 7-8 are encouraged to bring a backpack and erasable pens. EHS students will be given a supply list based on their class list during the first week of school.

  • Breakfast and lunch are provided for all students K-12 free of charge. WOA students need to schedule their meal pick-up through this link: http://bit.ly/ESDWOAMeals.

  • Cafeteria menus can be found online through our school website, our app, or directly at https://www.myschoolmenus.com/instance/193/district/217.

  • Buses will follow the same routes as last year. More information will be provided on our website soon.

  • Students can be dropped off beginning at 7:30am. Parents should stay in the vehicle during drop-off and pick-up. Please be patient with school employees as they work to get students in and out of vehicles.

  • Parents will not be able to enter the school buildings, including the first day of school.

  • There will be no outside lunches brought into the building after school starts. Students who bring their lunch to school will be able to bring their lunch with them.

  • There will be no outside visitors allowed in schools, including lunch, at this time.

One final reminder: WE HAVE MISSED OUR STUDENTS! And whether you are online or in the classroom, we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday!
