kindness assembly with students listening to the counselor

This month, we are focusing on kindness—and how the words we say and the actions we choose can make a big difference in someone’s day. We’ve been talking with students about the idea of a “bucket.” Everyone carries an invisible bucket, and kind words and actions fill it up, while unkind words or actions can empty it out.

When students share a smile, give a compliment, help a friend, or include someone who feels left out, they are filling buckets—both their own and others’. On the other hand, hurtful words, teasing, or ignoring others can cause buckets to feel a little emptier.

Students can show kindness at school by:

  • Using polite and encouraging words

  • Helping classmates and teachers

  • Including others during play and activities

  • Showing patience and understanding

They can also practice kindness at home by:

  • Helping with chores

  • Speaking respectfully to family members

  • Sharing and taking turns

  • Saying “thank you” and “I love you”

When we choose kindness, we help create a positive, caring environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Let’s keep filling buckets—one kind word and one kind action at a time!
