This month, we are focusing on the word perseverance—which means giving extra effort to make it all the way to the end, even when something feels difficult. It’s about not giving up and continuing to try your best, no matter the challenge!
Perseverance helps us grow in so many important ways:
Positive self-talk: When things get tough, perseverance reminds us to say, “I can do this!” instead of “I can’t.”
Empathy: When we keep trying, we better understand how others feel when they struggle, too.
Resilience: Each time we push through something hard, we become stronger and more confident.
At school, students can show perseverance in many ways. With the upcoming ATLAS tests, it might feel challenging—but that’s the perfect time to keep going, take your time, and give your very best effort on every question. Perseverance can also look like finishing a tough assignment, practicing a new skill, or asking for help instead of giving up.
At home, perseverance might look like completing chores without being reminded, practicing reading or homework even when it’s tricky, or sticking with a task until it’s finished. It could also mean trying again after making a mistake or learning something new.
Let’s all work together this month to show perseverance in everything we do—because great things happen when we don’t give up!
