This month, our students are learning about empathy—understanding how someone else may be feeling and showing that we care.
At school, students can show empathy by including others, helping a classmate, listening when someone is speaking, using kind words, and noticing when someone may need a friend.
At home, empathy can look like helping without being asked, listening to family members, sharing, being patient, or asking, “How can I help?”
We encourage our families to talk about empathy at home and look for little opportunities to practice it each day. When we understand and care about the feelings of others, we help make our school, homes, and community a kinder place!
