new wrestling coach!

The El Dorado School District is proud to welcome our new head wrestling coach, H.E. Burchard!

Coach Burchard brings over 50 years of experience in the sport of wrestling as an athlete, official, and coach. Originally from Amarillo, Texas, he graduated from West Texas A&M University with a degree in Business, but found his calling in the classroom as a History teacher.

He spent 15 years officiating wrestling matches at all levels—from youth leagues to college—and has coached at the high school level for the past 22 years. Most recently, he led the program at Lakeside for 12 years, where he built the team from the ground up into one of the top programs in the state.

Under his leadership, the Rams were three-time Dual State Runners-Up, the 2023 Dual State Champions, and four-time Individual Team Runners-Up. He has been named Arkansas Wrestling Coach of the Year three times.

Coach Burchard and his wife, Amanda, have been married for 29 years and are proud parents to three sons—Wyatt, Logan, and Colton—as well as grandparents to two grandsons and one granddaughter.

Outside the wrestling room, Coach Burchard brings a unique background—he spent 15 years as a professional bull rider!

He and Amanda recently purchased a home in El Dorado and look forward to officially joining the community in early July. Coach Burchard is eager to build this program and is excited to lead the Wildcats into the mix for future state titles.

Please join us in giving a warm Wildcat welcome to Coach Burchard!
