Miss. Fulton's favorite color is light blue. Her favorite subject in school was social studies. Miss. Fulton's favorite food is pasta. She wanted to be a teacher since she was 8 years old. She loved playing with younger kids. Miss. Fulton knew she wanted to work with kids. She wanted to be just like a couple of her elementary teachers that inspired her. Miss. Fulton has been teaching for 2 years and teaches 4th grade.

Book fair is almost here!! We are excited for everyone to see all these amazing books!! We are starting a contest next week to earn dollars for Books!! The class that brings the most change will win a Spudnut Party!! Start collecting those coins

Hero of the Week Tammy Parrott
Mrs. Parrott's favorite color is orange. Her favorite subject in school was reading and language arts. Mrs. Parrott's favorite food is paydays and mexican food. When she was younger she wanted to be a pediatrician. Mrs. Parrot wanted to become a teacher because she loved kids and loved school. She loved watching kids learn something new. Mrs. Parrot has been a teacher for 2 years and she teaches 1st grade this year at Yocum.

4th grade gets rewarded for STAR Math & Reading improvement.

Hero of the week Jean Boerwinkle
Mrs. Boerwinkle's favorite color is hot pink. Her favorite subject in school was math. Mrs. Boerwinkle's favorite food is lasagna. When she grew up she wanted to be someone famous who helped people. Mrs. Boerwinkle decided to be a teacher because she enjoyed teaching when she was a teacher assistant. She teaches 2nd grade at Yocum. Mrs. Boerwinkle has been a teacher for 11 years.

Hero of the Taylor Wells
Miss. Wells favorite color is purple. Her favorite subject in school if she is being honest was sports. She loved basketball and softball. Miss. Wells favorite food is sushi. When she grew up she wanted to be a school counselor. She decided to teacher so that she could make a small difference in the world. Miss. Wells teaches kindergarten at Yocum and this is her very first year.

We celebrated half birthdays this week!! This is for students whose birthdays are in June. Happy half birthday to these awesome students!

Hero of the Week Melinda Sivils
Mrs. Sivils' favorite color is blue-green the color of the ocean. Her favorite subject in school was everything. She loved how all subjects connected to one another. Her favorite food is veggie pizza with cauliflower crust. Mrs. Sivils wanted to be an archaeologist, a paleontologist, or to dance in a cage. She decided to be a teacher because she loves to learn. She was inspired by good teachers that pushed her to do better. Mrs. Sivils teaches 3rd grade and has taught for 18 years.

Chrystal Gilkey
Mrs. Gilkey's favorite color is blue. Her favorite subject in school was literature and history. Mrs. Gilkey's favorite food is blackberry cobbler. She wanted to be detective when she grew up. Mrs. Gilkey became a teacher because she enjoyed working with children. It is challenging and fulfilling to help students grow. Mrs. Gilkey taught elementary music for 4 years before she became a kindergarten teacher.

Today we celebrated November birthdays! Happy Birthday to all our student who have November birthdays!

National Education Week was November 12-16. The 3rd grade students listened to Mr. Matt Johnson a fire specialist with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service come and tell them about his career. He told the students that he manages and prescribed fire and wildlife suppression on all USFWS refuges in Arkansas and Louisiana. Thank you Mr. Johnson for sharing your career with our students.

Hero of the week is Janell Aplin
Mrs. Aplin's favorite color is pink. Her favorite subject in school was math. Mrs. Aplin's favorite food is Mexican and sushi! When Janell was younger she wanted to be a teacher. She wanted to make a difference in children's lives. She wanted them to believe in themselves like her teachers did for her. Mrs. Aplin has been teaching for 3 years at Yocum teaching 2nd grade.
