We are so proud of our students who represented our school at the MathCounts Southwest Regional Competition hosted at Southern Arkansas University! Fourteen of our 6th graders earned the opportunity to compete, and they showed incredible dedication, perseverance, and problem-solving skills throughout the day. We also want to thank Mrs. Saunders and Ace for driving the bus and providing plenty of moral support, tail wags, and pre-competition cuddles along the way!

Mrs. Taylor’s geography classes divided into two groups. One group was Vikings and one group was Europeans. They agreed on laws and created a treaty so that both groups could live peacefully together in one village.

Our 5th grade Atlas Interim testing starts tomorrow, 2/17 through Friday, 2/20. Help us prepare our students for success! 🌟

5th grade Geography started discussing the Holocaust to go along with their Europe unit. The students looked at different symbols as well as looking at the struggles the victims went through such as space. Sensitivity was used to learn history so that it is never repeated and never forgotten.

Mrs. Johnston's Agri classes recently went on a scavenger hunt around the library to practice taking measurements. They are using this skill as they monitor the plants in our library's hydroponics system.

Our students have voted on everything from athletes and sports teams to popular brands and singers during their visits to the library. The votes were tallied, and the winning topics were purchased and are now available for checkout. Encourage your student to checkout one of our new nonfiction books during their next visit to the library!

🎉 Union County Math Competition Winners 🎉 This Saturday, schools from across Union County competed in the Union County Math Competition, and we are incredibly proud of our Washington Middle School students who represented us so well! A huge shout-out to all 19 of our 6th graders who chose to spend part of their Saturday doing math! Next week, we will be hosting a Hat Day Fundraiser to support David Lee, Boys & Girls Club Director, and his family after the loss of their home in a house fire. David has given so much to our students and our community, and this is an opportunity for us to give back. Students may wear a hat each day next week for $1, and all funds collected will be donated directly to the Lee family. Additional donations are also accepted in the office. Thank you for supporting one of our own! 💜

What an exciting opportunity!

Students in Mrs. Martinez’s 5th grade math class practiced multiplying fractions through an interactive, hands-on gallery walk. Students moved around the classroom, worked collaboratively, and solved a variety of fraction problems posted at different stations, reinforcing their understanding in an engaging way.
