Golf State Champion Teams

For the first time in El Dorado High School history, the golf team swept the State Championships with both the Girls’ and Boys’ teams claiming the titles.

Thanks to the support of Murphy USA, the golf team has called Mystic Creek Golf Club its home course this year. Mystic’s 18-hole course is known as one of the more challenging courses in the state. Coach Chris Ezell and his team members all expressed their belief that playing at Mystic Creek was the best preparation they could have had to compete at the state level.

This is the first time in 33 years that the Boys Golf Team has won the State Championships and the most recent Girls title was in 2010.

“They’ve worked hard and we’re very proud of them,” said Coach Chris Ezell. “And we’re excited because most of these players will be back next year.”

As the team gathered for group pictures at Mystic Creek after their wins, members who were playing on the course stopped to congratulate them. The team started their winning streak with the Simmons Bank Wildcat Invitational at the Lions Club and carried that momentum throughout the season and claimed both 5A South Conference titles at Mystic Creek. The EHS teams pulled out great wins at Conference, despite a rain and wind storm.

The State Champions also had two girls named  All-Conference and All-State, four boys named All-Conference and three boys named All-State players. Girls named All-Conference and All-State are: Aubrey Marx, Hope Walthall. The boys named to All-Conference are: Preston Howard, Jon Brooks Elia, Keaton Michael, Miller Wallace. The boys named to All-State are: Aaron Ezell, Keaton Michael, Miller Wallace.
