Tonight was our Family Literacy, Math, and STEM night. Thanks to everyone who came out tonight!!





We read There Was an Old Monster and made milk jug monsters with our 4th grade friends. It was so much fun to see them all working together and coming up with plans on what they wanted their monsters to look like. #yocumschoolrocks #workingtogether #readingisfun





Hero of the week Zach Anders
Mr. Anders favorite color is blue. His favorite subject in school was science and math. Mr. Anders favorite food is Mexican. When he grew up he wanted to be a biologist and work with ocean animals. He also wanted to be a teacher. Mr. Anders wanted a job that helped kids learn and grow academically and physically. He has been a 1st grade teacher for 2 years
at Yocum Primary.


Hero of the week Ashley Johnson
Mrs. Johnson's favorite color is pink. Her favorite subject in school was reading. Mrs. Johnson's favorite food is chocolate chip cookies. When she grew up she wanted to be an astronaut or opera singer!! Mrs. Johnson wanted to be a teacher because she wanted everyone to love science as much as she did. She says kids are natural scientists! Mrs. Johnson has taught 3rd grade for 3 years all at Yocum!!


Lizza Pizza and Paco Taco came to Kindergarten to handout awards for students meeting AR reading goals and AR math goals!! Way to Go Students!!




Mrs. Laird’s class received the top AR reading class for Kindergarten this week.


Hero of the week Leanne Barnett
Mrs. Barnett's favorite color is green. Her favorite subject in school was algebra. Her favorite food is crab. Mrs. Barnett wanted to be an architect then a teacher when she grew up. She decided she wanted to be a teacher after teaching classes in church as a teenager and loved it. Mrs. Barnett has been teaching 1st grade at Yocum for 4 years and has taught preschool before coming to Yocum.


Hero of the week Haley Holeman
Mrs. Holeman's favorite color is yellow. Her favorite subject in school was math. Mrs. Holeman's favorite food is chicken and dumplings. She wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. Mrs. Holeman wanted to be a teacher because she loves kids and watching their faces light up when they learn something new! Mrs. Holeman teaches 2nd grade at Yocum Elementary and has been a teacher for 7 years.

Hero of the Week Melissa Laird
Mrs. Laird's favorite color is blue. Her favorite subject in school was science. Mrs. Laird's favorite food is pizza. When she grew up she wanted to be a teacher. Mrs. Laird loved playing teacher when she was a child. She says that teaching is her talent it was what she was born to do. Mrs. Laird has taught for 11 years!! She has taught kindergarten at Yocum for two years.


Mrs. Laird’s class talked about Johnny Appleseed, and picked our favorite tasting apple!

Hero of the Week Lila Levingston
Mrs. Levingston's favorite color is blue. Her favorite subject in school was math. Her favorite food is lasagna. Mrs. Levingston wanted a teacher when she grew up. She decided to be a teacher because she loved working with people especially children. Mrs. Levingston teaches 4th grade English and writing. She has been teaching for 26 years

Mrs. Orr 's favorite color is blue. Her favorite subject in school was reading and science. Her favorite food is all food. She says eating is a hobby of hers! When she grew up she wanted to be a teacher. Mrs. Orr had several great teachers in this district that inspired her. Mrs. Jelks, Mrs. Whitlow, Mr. Smith, and Mrs. Post. Mrs. Orr has been teaching 1st grade for 13 years!


Scott Davis performed an electrical safety magic show, Making Accidents Disappear. He is sponsored by the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas and travels across the state to perform his safety show.
