📚 Our students are working hard in the mornings on their AR tests and celebrating every book they finish! We love seeing our Bears grow as readers and reach their reading goals! 💙🐻

We enjoyed celebrating September birthdays today!

🇺🇸✨ Celebrating Freedom Week at Yocum Primary! ✨🇺🇸 Our students had an amazing time celebrating Freedom Week with fun and educational rotations! Students rotated through stations where they learned about: 🗳️ Voting & the importance of having a voice 🗽 The Statue of Liberty 🦅 The Bald Eagle 🇺🇸 The American Flag To make the experience even more special, students received a souvenir from each rotation to remember what they learned! And, of course, we had our very own Yocum Primary election! Students cast their votes to decide which afternoon snack they would enjoy—POPcorn 🍿 or PRETZELS 🥨!

📣 Kindergarten Families

Kindergarten physicals are due October 1st. Students without a physical on file will not be allowed to attend school until it has been submitted.

Please turn in your child’s physical as soon as possible! 🐻

Ja’Kairon Stephens was a big helper during dismissal today! 🚗 He helped Mrs. McAdams keep the car line moving and made sure students were getting loaded safely.

✨ Once Upon a Time in the Yocum Library... ✨ Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade library fair booth is bringing fairy tales to life! 🏰📖 The booth gives families a peek into all the fun, learning, and imagination that happens in the library throughout the year. From discovering new stories to building a love of reading, our youngest Bears have lots to share!

Our kindergarten students are diving into the magical world of FAIRYTALES in the library! This week, they listened to the classic tale “The Frog Prince,” and our little readers had a hopping good time! 🐸 They graphed whether or not they would KISS A FROG, they were brave and KISSED a gummy frog and they made our very own fairy tale crowns! If you see your kindergartner walking around with their crown, be sure to ask them about the story and find out… WOULD THEY KISS A FROG? 🐸 Learning + literacy + a little fairy tale fun = the perfect day in the library!📚

Our 3rd and 4th grade students will begin Fall ATLAS Interim Testing next week. Please help your student do their best by making sure they are well rested and arrive at school on time each testing day.

These assessments provide important information that helps us monitor instruction, identify student needs, and plan interventions and support.

As we celebrate Yocum’s 99th and final year, we would love to bring together the people who have helped make Yocum such a special place through the years.

Please join us for a Yocum Staff Reunion on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00–11:00 AM at Yocum Elementary. Come reconnect with former coworkers, reminisce over memories, look through photos and yearbooks, and take a walk through the building one more time.
