In our continued efforts to provide the safest environment for our students, El Dorado High School will have a demonstration by EntryShield on campus tomorrow. This company will show our administrators how their safety systems work. If you or your student encounter any of their detection equipment on campus tomorrow, there is no need for concern. It is merely a demonstration.

To avoid bus overcrowding, Bus Route 28, serving students at Yocum Elementary, will make two afternoon runs beginning Tuesday, September 3. Students being dropped off at 2nd Street, the Bus Yard and Wilson Street will take the first run. The bus will then come back to Yocum for students who will be dropped off at Cherry, Cargile, Plum, Louis and Hillsboro Apartments. Afternoon drop off times should only vary 5-10 minutes.

El Dorado School District has been made aware of a social media post circulating that mentions threats against unknown schools in Arkansas and Kentucky for the coming week. According to Lt. Chris Lutman, Public Information Officer for the El Dorado Police Department, the FBI office out of Little Rock has made a general awareness statement (not a warning) regarding the threats. No specific schools have been mentioned and there has been no verified threat by any law enforcement agency in the state, including El Dorado Police Department. The safety of our staff and students is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the information with local law enforcement and will do everything in our power to keep our schools safe.

An important message from Superintendent Jim Tucker: This morning on social media some people posted that there was an incident at Barton Junior High School. This is absolutely false. Things are going well at Barton today, students are in class learning and teachers are teaching. Please do not post on social media about incidents happening at a school unless you confirm it with a school administrator. Making inaccurate posts is irresponsible and can cause unnecessary panic. If there ever is an issue, we will make a post on the district website and district social media. If you have any questions, please call the district office or the school. Please DO NOT post inaccurate information. Thank you.

Bus route 22 serving Hugh Goodwin, Northwest Elementary, and Barton Junior High will be 10-15 minutes late this afternoon.
