El Dorado Schools provide a challenging curriculum for our students by offering Pre-Advance Placement courses beginning in the 5th grade. Advanced Placement courses are shown to increase the potential for higher learning and prepare students for college. At the high school level, some AP courses can even get you college credit. El Dorado Schools offer a robust AP program. Students in middle school can begin a Pre-AP track in their core curriculum areas of Math, Science and Literacy. Barton Junior High offers 11 Pre-AP courses and El Dorado High School offers up to 20 AP courses. Courses are selected based on student interest. Pre-AP and AP teachers receive special training and certification to teach these courses.

The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.
