The El Dorado School District is excited to announce that Michelle Henry is returning to school building-level leadership as the principal at Barton Junior High School.**

Michelle Henry began her teaching career in the El Dorado School District 23 years ago. Over the course of her tenure, she has held a variety of roles within the district, including 6 years as a classroom teacher, 7 years as a Math Instructional Facilitator, 8 years as an elementary principal, and 2 years as the Director of Curriculum and Federal Programs. After two years in an office setting, Mrs. Henry was elated that an opportunity arose allowing her to be back around teachers and students daily. “I love that I get to make a difference every day in the lives of students and teachers,” she said. “I am excited about leading the junior high. There are amazing teachers and students that will do amazing things. I am thrilled to be a part of the Barton family!”

As product of the El Dorado School District, Mrs. Henry attended Southern Arkansas University for her bachelor's and Arkansas State University for her master's programs. While at ASU, she studied Curriculum and Instruction, as well as Educational Leadership. Her vast knowledge and experience is going to be an amazing asset to BJHS!

Henry has been married to her husband, Jeremy, for 27 years, and they have two children. Carson will be a junior at Lousiana Tech University; Cooper will be a sophomore at EHS. They are members of the College Avenue church of Christ and enjoy spending their summers as a family at the beach or on the lake. When she’s not at school, Henry loves growing flowers and spending time with her family.

We are excited to see where Mrs. Henry’s leadership takes the Wildkittens!
