Ashlie Odom

The El Dorado School District welcomes former English teacher, Ashlie Odom, back to El Dorado High School as Assistant Principal beginning this fall.

Ashlie Odom began teaching 12 years ago, spending her first 8 years in the El Dorado School District holding a variety of positions at EHS: grades 9-12 English teacher, ESL and Dyslexia Interventionist, Instructional Technology Integrationist, and Parent Involvement Coordinator. During her time in Texarkana School District, she was an Instructional Facilitator (3 years) and Program Coordinator for the Digital Learning Academy (1 year). Mrs. Odom is thrilled about the opportunity to get back home to EHS. “Mr. Tucker is an amazing man to work with, and I really believe in his vision for ESD. Mrs. Sherry Hill is a legend in her own right, and I am honored to get the chance to work with her, as well,” Odom commented.

A graduate of Southern Arkansas University, Odom received a BA in English and a MA in Teaching, as well as her Teaching ESOL Certification and Building Level Administration Certification. She is a strong advocate for building relationships with not only the students but with colleagues. Her most memorable moment in education was in her first year of teaching–she taught 12th-grade English and was able to watch her students graduate. “As a first-year teacher, I thought that was just the most amazing experience, and I cried my eyes out for those kids. I’ve been a part of graduations since then, but that first one will always be very special to me.”

Odom is married to Michael, principal at Northwest Elementary, and they have two children: Emma and Annabelle. She feels privileged to be the bonus mom to Samuel and Elizabeth. She enjoys reading books, cooking for her family, and spending time on the water.

El Dorado is happy to welcome you home, Mrs. Odom!
