John Jameson !

The El Dorado School District would like to announce John Jameson as the new Head Principal at El Dorado High School, effective the 2024-2025 school year.

After graduating from Smackover High School in 2008, Jameson began his educational journey at SouthArk Community College, now South Arkansas College. Initially majoring in Business, he quickly changed his major to Education where he found a love for education and learning. During his student teaching, he found his place at Barton Junior High School and with the El Dorado School District.

“Student teaching was a dream, I had two amazing mentoring teachers that pushed me well beyond my comfort zone, but made me a better teacher. I also had unheard-of coaching opportunities that year. I got to coach next to my high school football coach, Joe Black, I got to be part of a state championship in football, an undefeated basketball season, and a state championship in baseball. That just doesn’t happen,” said Jameson.

After completing the partnership program between SouthArk and the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2012, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle-Level Education and a minor in Coaching, Mr. Jameson started his career in the El Dorado School District as a Social Studies teacher and Coach at Barton Junior High under Principal Sherry Hill. While teaching and coaching he pursued and completed a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Henderson State University.  After four years in the classroom, he was allowed to move to Dean of Students at Barton.

“The team we had was unmatched, and the memories we made, I will never forget. Working with Mrs. Hill, Mr. Mark Smith, and Coach Warren Harshaw gave me the foundation of being an administrator, they taught me what the job is,” explained Jameson.

After one year as Dean, he became Assistant Principal and remained at Barton for two more years in that role. Beginning in the fall of 2019, Mr. Jameson moved to El Dorado High School as Assistant Principal with Mrs. Sherry Hill when she took over as Head Principal. Then, in the spring of 2020, education changed when schools shut down for COVID-19, “We had to pivot, I thought I knew what leadership was, running a school during COVID and coming out of it showed me a whole different perspective I had never seen.”

Completing his Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Superintendency from Henderson State University the following December of 2020, Mr. Jameson continued in his role as Asst. Principal at EHS.

“I got the chance to work with an amazing admin team that pushed me and amazing teachers that were willing to do what we needed to do to meet student needs,” added Jameson.

In the fall of 2022, Mr. Jameson was promoted to Vice Principal at El Dorado High School where he has served El Dorado High School for the last two years.

When he is not at El Dorado High School, Mr. Jameson is spending time with his wife, Morgan, a 2011 EHS graduate, and his two children Judge and Milo. Mr. Jameson enjoys hunting and occasionally playing softball.
