DIGITAL ART
Our world is slowly changing to the digital realm after Covid, especially in the art world. Students at BJH have the opportunity to take DIGITAL ART, a class where they develop the skills to be successful artists in our ever-changing world. They learn how to use programs and practice skills graphic designers are using today.
Advisor Scott says, “My favorite thing about this class is being able to teach applicable skills that students can use after high school. Students who are looking at becoming a graphic designer will be more prepared when they begin to pursue a Graphic Design career in college.”

Did you know? Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read. #EveryMinuteMatters #EveryStudentDeserves

EHS CLOSE UP
Founded in 1971, the Close Up Foundation has provided students with an opportunity to experience their government, firsthand, by taking part in a "living classroom" atmosphere in the nation's capitol, Washington, DC. Working with other students from across the nation, students interact in workshops, debates, mock Congresses, and tour the most famous monuments, museums, and governmental institutions in the Washington, DC, area as they understand and comprehend the inner workings of our government. Close Up professionals lead and instruct them in over 70 hours of personal instruction throughout the week and Close Up even provides Night Monitors to patrol the hallways of the hotel to ensure students stay in their rooms after hours.
The 2024 trip is scheduled for March 3rd through the 8th. If a student pays a $200 deposit by June 30 they can lock in 2023 pricing ($2060) plus an additional savings of $25. After June 30, and due to increased costs in airfare, hotels, etc., pricing will be going up about $90 in 2024 to $2150.
Contacts for the trip are Wayne Garner, Tim Ray, and Tab Bledsoe.

JOB SQUAD
Throughout the year, students in Mrs. Burger's class at Yocum Elementary were able to meet community members from many walks of life to learn more about their careers.
"It was a wonderfully immersive way to introduce students to different types of careers and give them a chance to meet those people directly, as well as introducing them to positive role models in our own community. Students in my monthly club met with the El Dorado Fire Department, the El Dorado Police Department, an animator from DreamWorks, and the South Arkansas College Women's Basketball Coach and team," Mrs. Burger said.
On their last trip of the year, students took a trip to South Arkansas College and visited with current college athletes, as well as learned about different career paths the athletes planned to take. The students were even given some court time with the team!

Summer Reading Challenges are active at each grade level! Check your student's Facebook page and website for more information!

ARCHERY
Students in ESD have the opportunity to participate in a nationally-ranked, award-winning archery program. BJH Coach Scot Perry said, "It's an activity open to a diverse group developing a specific skill set. Kids don't have to be athletic to participate....they don't have to run fast or throw hard. They just have to be willing to take coaching, correction, and challenges."
BJH (middle school) and WMS (elementary) both placed 10th in the nation in their respective divisions! Team members take pride in their team, and ESD is proud of how their hard work!
