Dawson Moser, teacher at El Dorado High School, attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he earned a degree in Exercise Science. He currently teaches boys health and safety and coaches football. Coach Moser chose to attend UAM for the baseball program. He was a pitcher for the Boll Weevils throughout his college career. Baseball played a major role in Coach Moser’s college experience. If he wasn’t in class or studying, he was likely to be found with his team. Being a collegiate athlete is no easy feat, but for Coach Moser, winning conference championships made it all worth it. Thank you, Coach Moser, for sharing about UAM! Andria Gleghorn (Miss G), an assistant principal at Barton Junior High School, attended Ouachita Baptist University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. When asked how Miss G ended up at OBU, she said “God chose it for me—I had a person from my church come up to me and ask if I wanted to go to OBU—he said he would make it possible!” Once she was there, it was an unforgettable experience. Not only did Miss G have amazing teachers and make lifelong friends, but she also had the honor of being a 1998 Tiger Tunes Hostess. Thank you, Miss G, for sharing about OBU! Today, we celebrate Washington Middle School Literacy Instructional Facilitator Suzette Calloway and the positive impact she makes each day! Her fellow colleague, Haley Moore, said, “The support that Ms. Calloway offers to us (teachers) is nothing short of a blessing. I am convinced that she is Superwoman in the flesh. She is always there for us, ensuring we have everything we need to be the best we can be for our kids. She is a phenomenal leader and is a pro at making you feel like you’ve had a load lifted off of your back. There’s not a single thing she doesn’t have a lesson idea for or resources to offer up. What I’ve loved most about my time with Ms. Calloway this year is how well she’s prepared my team to successfully create a data protocol in our subject area for the PLC process. That can be a stressful conversation, but she presented ideas to us in a way that helped us feel confident and excited about what this will do for our kids. She’s even taught us effective ways to practice recording data for our students, so that we will feel prepared to confidently take on this step for the 2022-2023 school year. I have learned so much from this sweet lady. I look up to her in 1,000+ ways, and I look forward to utilizing all that I’ve learned from her in my career as an educator until the end of my time in the field! Thanks for all you do, Ms. Calloway!” Thank you, Ms. Calloway, for everything you do to support our teachers, in turn supporting our students! Sarika Mohandas graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She currently teaches 5th-grade math at Washington Middle School. She chose SAU “primarily because the teaching program fit my requirement and also because of the supportive faculties who guided me through the process.” One of the things that made her time at SAU so special was the support and guidance she received from the faculty and staff. She said they “go out of their way to help their students.” Thank you, Ms. Mohandas, for sharing about SAU! If you didn't know, March 14th is Pi Day! Students across the district celebrated the numerical holiday through various activities. Ms. Cupples's 7th grade math classes used different circle shaped food items to find the parts of a circle (radius, diameter, area, and circumference). Then, they used the price of the items to calculate the discount, tax, and total cost. Awesome job, Wildkittens!
