NOTIFICATION OF DESTRUCTION OF STUDENT SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS
In accordance with the state and federal regulations implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), this is to inform the public of El Dorado School District’s intent to destroy personally identifiable information related to special education services.
El Dorado School District would like to make Parents/Guardians, Former Students, and Eligible (Adult) Students aware that Special Education records of students who graduated, moved or were dismissed from special education in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years will be disposed of on July 8, 2024. The district is required to maintain records for six (6) years from the date the child leaves the school district. Any former students (now adults) age 18+ must pick up their own records.
Special Education records collected by the El Dorado School District, relate to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of Special Education in the district.
Records can be picked up between June 10, 2024, through July 2, 2024, from 8:00 – 5:00 at the El Dorado School District Special Education Office, 412 North Washington. If you have questions about records, contact Shawn L. Beard, Special Ed. Director at 864-5133.

As the school year wraps up, please remember that students who are bus riders will need to keep their Smart Tag for next year. If you can't find it, you'll need to visit the school during the open house or before school starts to purchase a new tag.
Students entering grades 5, 7, and 9 will receive new Smart Tags, which will be available for pick-up at open house.

The Wildcat Wellness Center will be open for business in June with limited days to see the provider. The provider will be out of the office on Friday, June 7th. The last day to see the provider will be Thursday, June 20th. Thursday, June 27th will be the last day that clinic staff will be available for phone calls.
Please make plans accordingly for any medication refills that may be needed during July.
If we have seen you or your child at the Wildcat Wellness Center they are enrolled with any CABUN Rural Health Service facility. The closest CABUN medical clinics to El Dorado are the Hampton Clinic (1-870-798-4064 ) or the Strong Clinic (1-870-797-7620) Please reach out to them if services are needed while the Wildcat Wellness Center is on summer break.
The Wildcat Wellness Center staff will return from summer break on Monday, August 5th.

We are excited to continue our AR Reading Program for three weeks this summer on June 10 & 12, June 17 & 19, and June 24 & 26 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Retta Brown! The AR Reading Lab will be open to all ESD students entering 1st through 6th grade. This is a great opportunity to keep reading all summer long!
Remember, a large variety of AR books are available at the Barton Library (across from Hugh Goodwin Elementary). Hours: Monday – Friday 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday 1 pm to 5 pm.

Graduation will be held tonight at Memorial Stadium and will begin promptly at 8 pm. All are welcome to attend. The gates will open at 6:30 pm. Please note that there will be no reserved seating tonight. When the home side reaches capacity, guests will be directed to the visitors’ entrance. Guests must use the sidewalk to reach the visitors’ side, as the track will be closed to the public.
