Guardians of athletes grades 9-12! One final reminder that registration forms for cardiovascular testing are due TODAY. Drop off the forms when you pick up your athlete from school this afternoon!
Can you believe it?! Next Friday marks the 100th Day of School!

Mandy Kingery, teacher at Northwest Elementary, graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She currently teaches kindergarten.
What drew her to HLGU was the small teacher-to-student class ratio. As a bonus, “it was a Christian college with such a happy and calm atmosphere! It felt just right!” Although it was 12 hours away from her family, Mrs. Kingery felt at home. “I loved my teachers; they made learning fun!...It was very important to me to have teacher that I knew I could count on to not only teach me, but I felt loved by them as well.”
The best part of her HLGU experience? She met her husband there! Fun fact: Mr. Kingery also teaches in the district!
Thank you, Mrs. Kingery, for sharing about HLGU! If you are interested in learning more about the Hannibal-LaGrange University, visit https://www.hlg.edu/.

In honor of Promise Week, we have a special edition of College Wednesday: Teacher Edition this week!
Debbie McAdams is not only the Wildcat Wellness Center Administrator and School Health Services Coordinator for the El Dorado School District, but she is also a product of the district.
After graduating from EHS, Mrs. McAdams attended the University of Louisiana in Monroe, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science. She chose ULM for two main reasons: it was close to home, and it was close to LATech, where her boyfriend was attending. Although she enjoyed her time at ULM, she didn’t go back to college for her master's until later in life. Mrs. McAdams and her boyfriend moved back to El Dorado, married, and began their family. When Mrs. McAdams chose to go back to school for her master’s degree, she opted for the online program at the University of Arkansas. She graduated with a Master's in Operations Management at the age of 46. “No one is ever too old to further their education,” Mrs. McAdams said.
What made Mrs. McAdams masters experience extra special was graduating the same year as two of her daughters. Her oldest daughter, Jordan, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Arkansas University, and her middle daughter, Montana, graduated from El Dorado High School. Jordan went on to get her master's degree and is now the physical provider at the Wildcat Wellness Center. Montana received her Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and works at the Walmart Pharmacy in Arkadelphia.
“My whole family graduated high school from the El Dorado School District,” Mrs. McAdams commented. When Mrs. McAdams and her husband came back to El Dorado, they had no idea that the El Dorado Promise would pave the way for all three of their daughters to attend college. “Buddy and I graduated from El Dorado High School in 1984. We raised our three daughters in El Dorado, and they were blessed to be recipients of the El Dorado Promise in 2008, 2013, and 2018. Murphy Oil's gift to education in El Dorado is a true commitment to future generations. We are honored that our daughters were given the opportunity to become a nurse practitioner, a pharmacist, and a business leader.”

Amanda Brown and Kelsey Jones, WMS counselors, were featured on the most recent G.U.I.D.E for Life podcast produced by the Arkansas Department of Education. We are proud of these ladies and all of the staff at WMS for the work they are doing!
"Amanda Brown and Kelsey Jones, School Counselors at Washington Middle School (El Dorado School District), share how they are helping to create a culture of belonging to enhance learning on their campus. The G.U.I.D.E. for Life program, with the support of Arkansas counselors and educators, is designed to give K-12 students a plan – a five-step process – that they can follow to achieve personal success."

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Enjoy today celebrating the message and the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School resumes tomorrow.

Wildcat Impact voting is still open for this month! Don't forget to nominate an EHS staff member you feel goes above and beyond for our students and community! Open to all ESD employees--bus drivers, cafeteria & office staff, nurses, paraprofessionals, teachers, and more! https://bit.ly/WILDAward

Reminder: No school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
School dismisses at normal time today.

Attention ALL ESD Guardians
There was a misprint in the newsletter calendar that was emailed yesterday afternoon. School does not dismiss early tomorrow, January 13th. We will dismiss at regular time—3:25pm.
We apologize for the confusion.
The Martha E. Deichler Union County Math Competition will be held at the EHS Auditorium on Saturday, January 21st, beginning at 9:30am.

Casey Gore, a teacher at El Dorado High School, graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Education in Nutrition and Family Sciences. She currently teaches Food Safety and Nutrition for 10th - 12th-grade students and coaches cross country and track at Barton and EHS.
Choosing UCA was an easy decision for Ms. Gore. “As soon as I stepped onto campus, it immediately felt like home.” Not only did she love the atmosphere, but UCA was also close enough to her family that she was able to spend weekends with them when time allowed.
A special part of her UCA experience was having the chance to be a Division I athlete. During her four years as a Bear, Ms. Gore ran Cross Country and Track. “It was an amazing opportunity, because I felt like everything I had worked for in high school finally came together. Not to mention, I met some lifelong best friends there!”
Thank you, Ms. Gore, for sharing about UCA! If you are interested in learning more about the University of Central Arkansas, visit https://uca.edu/.
