Congrats to freshman Dave Davison for winning the 2017 MVP Chess Association for Arkansas Schools Junior High on October 21, 2017. Davison is a member of the EHS Chess Club.
Congratulations to Chess cats Shayla Smith, Cameron Kuhlmann, and Dave Davison for their outstanding performances in Saturday's regional chess tournament at Lake Hamilton. Dave was named tournament MVP for his perfect 5-0 record, topped off by an absolutely beautiful smothered mate in the championship match. Be sure to ask him what that means. Great job, everybody.
Mrs. Odom's 9th grade English classes wrote eulogies for the characters in Romeo and Juliet. The students presented their eulogies at a mock funeral on Homecoming.

The Cross Country teams had a great showing at the Moro Bay Invitational held at Moro Bay State Park this past Saturday. The Varsity Boys placed 1st place out of 6 full teams. Alexander Jiminez placed 4th out of about 50 runners. Brooks Coan placed 6th, JD Halstead placed 7th, Ruben Berrequin placed 9th, and Hayden McDiarmid placed 12th. Sally Senn placed 6th out of about 50 in the Varsity Girls division.

Kaylee Vickery, a senior at El Dorado High School, received an invitation during the 2017 spring semester to attend the 3 day National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists this past summer at the University of Massachusetts. During the conference, Kaylee was able to hear and meet many speakers who have made amazing medical breakthroughs. For example, she met the doctor who performed the first successful face transplant. In addition to the speakers, Kaylee met a man who received a bionic eye and thus his vision was restored.
Kaylee recommends the experience to any student who is interested in the medical field.

EHS FBLA Members attended the Fall District FBLA Conference in October at the Pibe Bluff Convention center. Advisors attending were Jackie Phillips, Melissa Virden and Penny Owens. Members heard greetings from District Officers and DJ Williams, motivational speaker on setting goals.
EHS DECA Members attended the DECA Fall State Conference on October 16th in Benton, AR. Advisors attending were Mrs. Jackie Phillips and Mrs. Kathy Owen. Students heard a keynote speaker on Marketable Skills. Breakout sessions included Branding Your Future, Dress For Success and Being Limitless with DECA.
