#TeacherTuesday Meet Mrs. Parker! Angie Parker has worked at EHS the last eleven years in the science department. She teaches Pre-AP/AP Biology. Mrs. Parker believes that it's important to "let students know you care and be consistent and fair." She still gets nervous on the first day of school, but always gives homework to set the tone for how the year will go. Mrs. Parker loves when a class has perfect attendance and shows her school spirit by participating in College Shirt Wednesdays. Most would be surprised to discover that Mrs. Parker had a "subpar GPA in high school AND in college" and is pretty good at playing poker and dancing. She's inspired by her family and students and dreams of taking her family on an Alaskan cruise. What's Mrs. Parker's favorite quote? "I would rather walk with a friend in the darkness than alone in the light." Sounds just like a Gryffindor!

The Wildcat Tennis Team hosted a free tennis camp for the Boys and Girls Club this week. Around 40 kids attended the camp where they learned tennis basics and practice drills. Coach Thomas hopes to continue the partnership: "The team had a blast, and I think the kids did, too. It's a great opportunity for the team to give back and build a sense of community. Plus, the more young kids we can expose to tennis, the more they'll see it as an option when they get to high school. We've got 32 kids on the team this year, with some that have never played on an organized school team before this year. They've been working hard, and I'm excited to see what they do come August." Way to go, Tennis Cats!

#TeacherTuesday Meet Mrs. Forbess! Shelley Forbess has spent 24 years in the classroom, the last 15 years at EHS. She teaches AP Physics 1 and 2 and can be found in the science hall. Her daily goal is simple: "to help students do more than they think they can." She shows her school spirit by cheering loudly at games and has a good school day "when a student finally understands something that has been a struggle." Once, she set a trash can on fire, but that hasn't stopped her from striving to serve students and their families. Mrs. Forbess has one dog and 11 chickens, and her hidden talent is writing backwards. She's definitely a member of Ravenclaw and would take a host of books including the HP series, Lord of the Rings, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, The Blue Castle, and the Chronicles of Narnia with her if trapped on a deserted island. Fun Fact: Mrs. Forbess knows all the lyrics to "Ain't No Sunshine." We're hoping it's the original by Bill Withers...but either way, it's a great song!

ATTENTION ALL FUTURE WILDCATS BASKETBALL STARS! The Wildcat Basketball team is hosting a summer camp for those entering the 3rd-9th grades next week, June 4th-7th. There are two different sessions based on grade (morning session is for entering grades 3rd-6th/afternoon session is for entering grades 7th-9th). Contact Coach Simmons for more information!

Freshman EAST student Mykel Howard worked with community member Buddy McAdams to build a portable book drop for the EHS library. The project began in February, and Mykel brought the finished project to Mrs. Porter, EHS librarian, last week. Thanks to Mr. McAdams for working with Mykel to get this project done!

CLASS OF 2022 Order 2018-19 Freshman Class T-Shirts at the EHS Main Office now through June 28. $20 cash ONLY due at time order is placed. Freshmen will wear these shirts first day of school. Proceeds go to help pay for Homecoming Float.

Cross Country will host a car wash on June 9th at Brookshire's by SouthArk. Plan to come out and support the kids!
