As COVID-19 set in and schools were closed, Mr. Tucker and the EHS administration began brainstorming ways to recognize the senior class. Once it became apparent that the traditional graduation on May 18th wasn't going to be possible, the district knew yard signs would be a safe way to recognize the seniors. During one of the Google Meet faculty meetings, Mrs. Hill mentioned the school district was purchasing yard signs to be posted up around the driveway at the high school in recognition of all the 2020 seniors.
But who was going to set up over 300 yard signs? Enter the Class of 2021.
"As I thought about everything the seniors have missed this year," stated Wayne Garner, 2021 Class Sponsor, "and knowing how important it is...stepping stones of life...I knew there had to be a way we, the Class of 2021, could help. When Mrs. Hill mentioned the yard signs, I immediately contacted my steering committee officers about my thoughts and the opportunity. We decided to donate $100 to the school district to help pay for the signs, as well as help put them up around the school when they were ready."
Junior class president Jasmine Wallace stated, "Being a Junior this year, I realize how excited our class is to be seniors. I'm sure they [Class of 2020] all felt the same as juniors. I can't imagine how they must feel not being able to have traditional senior events and their year getting cut short. From the class of 2021, we want to thank the class of 2020 for being so awesome and so strong during this rough time!"
Junior class vice president Layken Grimes added, "The senior class has always been like our big brothers and sisters. Always there for us. So, it was nice to be able to be there for them during this time."
Junior class secretary/treasurer Journey Moreland followed up with, "I felt we should donate to the yard signs because the seniors have had to miss so much this year and by donating to the signs, our class was able to show how much we care about making the end of their senior year as special as possible for them."
EHS would like to thank the school district for providing the signs. And a huge thank you to the EHS administration and Class of 2021 for their help in setting up the signs last week! We appreciate your support!!

If you missed your chance to pick up your summer reading packet last week, you are in luck! There will be another chance THIS Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-3pm in front of EHS!
