Each fall, FBLA/DECA students have the opportunity to attend the Silver Dollar City Career Day in Branson. Students learn about employment skills and inside marketing strategies for the park.
A few quotes from the seminar speakers that stood out:
"Always be yourself. You are worth more than a copy."
‘You are always one choice away from changing your life.’
Once they finish the seminar, they have a little bit of time to enjoy the park. Thank you to Mrs. Martindale and Mrs. Phillips for taking students to each year!

Mrs. Harwell’s Art students are enjoying a floor knitting unit. This unit starts their grant from The El Dorado Education Foundation.
“We are so blessed to have the support of The South Arkansas Arts Center and The El Dorado Education Foundation,” Mrs. Harwell said.
We agree! Thank you, SAAC and EDEF!

Recently, Orientation to Teaching students attended the 1st Quarterly ERZ Advisory Council Meeting at SAU, where they were recognized as being a teacher cadet. They also had the opportunity to speak with several professors at SAU and members of the Arkansas Department of Education in order to learn more about what they can do now to help them become a successful educator in the future. Thank you for taking them, Mrs. Foley!

Last Friday, members of EHS DECA attended the DECA Arkadelphia Mini Prep Conference at Henderson State University. The group was going for the experience and to better prepare themselves for future competitions. Instead, they excelled at the competition, sweeping the Hospitality Division and receiving 2 out of 3 for the Marketing Division. Students in Mrs. Parker’s Pre-AP Bio used clues to make models of DNA with “LearnDoh.” As Mrs. Parker says, “we don’t PlayDoh, we LearnDoh!”

Using models to predict molecular geometry in AP Chemistry can be fun...just add Play-Doh! What a cool way to bring the lesson to life, Mrs. Rankin!

Check out what students in Mrs. Newman’s FACS classes have been up to this school year. Recently, they had a lesson with an important focus in cooking: using what you already have instead of buying more of something. To practice this, Food Safety and Nutrition students researched recipes to cook using only the ingredients they already had in the classroom. The students made pancakes, funnel cakes, stir fry, fettuccini Alfredo and brownies. Way to be resourceful!
