El Dorado High School

EHS Book Club received a $500 grant from the Kappa State Education Foundation, secured with the help of Nanette Darden, to provide students with copies of The Cure, and a $300 grant from the Arkansas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (ACTELA), facilitated by UAM's Dr. Kay Walter, along with an additional donation from Dr. Walter, to provide students with copies of The Prison Healer!

All books were purchased locally from The 1988 bookstore, where students picked up their copies and learned from owner Katie Ferrin about running a small business and supporting the community. We are grateful to our partners for investing in literacy and providing meaningful reading opportunities for our students! 💜📚

Coach Rice's students are using prior knowledge to use Play Doh to make a diagram of the Central Nervous System and all its functions, including voluntary and involuntary processes!

Students in Mrs. Chidester's class used 2 hands on activities to help bring energy flow and the cycling of matter in ecosystems to life. Students created food chains based on feeding relationships and got to draw on the tables to represent the flow of energy. They also got to research an ecosystem within unique biomes and create physical cup pyramids in order to show the delicate balance of biotic and abiotic factors in their ecosystem and their role in the flow of energy and cycling of matter.

We loved having the SAU Trombone Quartet visit and perform for our high school band this week! Thank you for inspiring our students with your amazing music!

This year, our students achieved phenomenal growth on their ATLAS scores! To celebrate their hard work and progress, we honored those who showed substantial improvement from the previous year.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a generous and supportive community that continues to invest in our students’ success. We could say "thank you" a million times, and it still wouldn't be enough!

Community service opportunity~~ NHS is hosting a candy drive to help Hope Landing with their Halloween Celebration. Students can drop off candy in both the upstairs and downstairs offices. Be sure to fill out your service hour form when you turn it in!

Divorced, Beheaded, Live! The Six wives of King Henry VIII have joined forces and are coming to El Dorado in concert. Join EHS Drama and Troupe 42 as we present this fun musical where the queens battle it out to see who was the most important queen and sing about their time with the king. Who will be victorious - pick your favorite on October 9 at 7pm or October 12 at 2pm and 6pm. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Cash or check only - available at the door before the show.
